Paul McDonald came to the bar in 2018. He joins the Third Floor Wentworth Chambers with over 15 years commercial litigation experience.
Paul began his career working for five years at a specialist advocacy-focused firm. During that time, he regularly appeared in a wide range of courts and tribunals.
Prior to coming to the bar, Paul worked for ten years in the litigation group at Gilbert + Tobin. He has also worked for ASIC, assisting with the prosecution of civil penalty proceedings.
Paul has a broad, general commercial litigation practice. His commercial experience extends to construction, competition, regulatory, Australian Consumer Law, intellectual property, tortious and insurance disputes.
He has also been retained in investigatory, partnership, insolvency, employment, personal injury, criminal law, professional discipline and defamation matters.
Within the law, Paul’s interests include litigation practice and procedure, and practical matters of commercial law such as the execution of documents and the effective drafting of contracts. He enjoys writing about the law and regularly presents legal education sessions.
Paul has an LLB (Hons) from the University of Canterbury. He is also a Notary Public.
In his spare time, Paul enjoys running and watching sport. He is an active referee with the NSW Rugby Referees Association.
